Dear Guest,
On behalf of the Mayor of Cambridge and Mill Road Traders CIC, we are honoured to invite you to an important
event: the process of making the Memorial Fountain Initiative for Fallen Heroes of the United Indian Army of
WWI & WWII at the proposed memorial site.
Date: Friday, 21st March 2025Time: 3:15 PM for a 3:30 PM start, concluding at 4:00 PM (tea will be served until 4:30 PM)
Venue: Ditchburn Place, Mill Road, Cambridge, CB1 2AS
Purpose of the Event
This gathering is an opportunity to engage the community in shaping the Memorial Fountain for Fallen Heroes of
the United Indian Army, a tribute to the 1.5 million soldiers of WWI and 2.5 million soldiers of WWII, who
formed the largest all-volunteer force in history. Their sacrifices laid the foundation for global peace, multicultural
connections, and the freedoms we cherish today.
The memorial water fountain will be located near the Cambridge Gateway from India and will commemorate
the diverse nations that comprised the British Indian Army, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal,
Southeast Asian nations, and Commonwealth nations. This initiative aims to honour their bravery, foster
cultural unity, and serve as an enduring symbol of remembrance and peace.

unity, sacrifice, and remembrance.
Community Engagement Session – An open discussion for attendees to share thoughts and ideas on the
memorial’s design and significance.

who played a crucial role in securing victory in both world wars.
Strengthening Multicultural Bonds – Honouring the shared history between Cambridge, the UK, and
the nations represented in the British Indian Army.
The Cambridge Mayor led Community Initiative – This event is an opportunity to shape the vision
of the memorial, ensuring it reflects the diverse voices and histories of those it commemorates.

This memorial will serve as a powerful symbol of sustainability and a tribute to the sacrifices made by the soldiers
of the United Indian Army and strengthen ties between the United Kingdom as a whole and Cambridge as a
