Cllr. Adv. Baiju Thittala, Mayor of Cambridge and Criminal Defence Solicitor, was a distinguished speaker at a seminar organized by Fatima Mata National College, Kollam, on 10th March 2025.
The event, held under the theme “The Indian Criminal Justice System: Handcuffed by the Colonial Legacy”, was organized in association with IQAC.
Baiju Thittala’s keynote address critically examined the deep-rooted colonial influences that continue to shape India’s criminal justice system. He emphasized the urgent need for systemic reforms to ensure justice is accessible, fair, and rooted in the values of a modern democratic society.
The seminar was well-attended by faculty, students, and members of the academic community. His thought-provoking insights sparked a lively discussion, encouraging students to think critically about the future of India’s legal framework.
